What is QLED Portable Monitor

What's QLED

The important bit of QLED is the Q, which stands for Quantum Dot.
Quantum Dots offer a different way for screens to produce color instead of the usual inefficient and limited combination of white LEDs and color filters.

QLED TV

Most QLED screens are used in Big sizes Samsung TV. Most TVs are liquid crystals and use liquid crystals. Quantum dots replaced these crystals. Samsung first introduced this technology in 2016. Now you can find quantum dot displays in all its high-end packages. You can find Samsung QLED by model name; it always starts with Q. Some other small brands also produce QLEDs, but Samsung is the only one of the four major manufacturers (LG, Panasonic, Samsung and Sony) to produce QLEDs. It is said that quantum dots can produce brighter colors and brighter images.

QLED Laptop

In the last year, Samsung released the world's first QLED laptop. With the Galaxy Book Flex, Samsung demonstrated its superior display technology and continued to demonstrate enhanced self-awareness. Flex is the first laptop equipped with a QLED panel that promises more colors, deeper blacks, and greater brightness. Its standard configuration also has an S Pen and a wireless charging pad built into the touchpad. Stream and browse on a gorgeous QLED touchscreen which touts virtually 100% color volume and stays vibrant even in direct sunlight.

QLED Desktop Monitor

Among the available QLED products, Samsung's displays are often overlooked. Like their TVs, these displays take full advantage of the enhanced capabilities of quantum dot technology, which provides additional color enhancements for ordinary LCD panels. One of the Samsung monitors that have received strong praise is the C32HG70, which is currently priced at about $800, which is much cheaper than the Alienware AW3418DW. Although it is a "gaming" monitor, it does not feel inappropriate in a home office or bedroom-it may even make the monotonous work of dealing with spreadsheets more interesting. The overall design is rather conservative, lacking bold colors and angular style. However, there is a glowing ring at the back, giving a sense of the future.

QLED Portable Monitor

Intehill is the first company which uses QLED in the portable monitors. I'm really shocked by the brilliant color of the screens. The DHR performance is amazing when I play PS4 games with this 15.6 inch QLED portable monitor. It's definitely perfect if you have a high requirement for the image quality of the monitor. The DCI P3 and HDR 600 are the most important two features.

vesa certified displayhdr 600

Targets professional/enthusiast-level laptops and high-performance monitors.

True high-contrast HDR with notable specular highlights:

  • Peak luminance of 600 cd/m2– double that of typical displays
  • Full-screen flash requirement renders realistic effects in gaming and movies
  • Real-time contrast ratios with local dimming – yields impressive highlights and deep blacks
  • A visible increase in color gamut compared to already improved DisplayHDR 400
  • Requires 10-bit image processing

The monitor is in the same color gamut as the Macbook Pro, the 700 nits peak brightness is even better compared to the Macbook Pro 500nits.

QLED Monitor Advantages

Let's see other features and advantages of the QLED panel.

1. Supervise color accuracy
A key advantage of QLED displays is that their colors are more vivid and accurate. Please note that the light produced by quantum dots depends on their size. These points can be precisely tuned to produce light in a specific spectrum, which corresponds to accurate color reproduction. QLED has better color accuracy than traditional LCD.
It is worth mentioning that the traditional LCD has a smaller color gamut than OLED. However, through quantum dot technology, an LCD can have a 40% to 50% higher color gamut than a traditional LCD, so it can compete head-on with OLED displays.
QLED displays are also superior to OLED displays in terms of color reproduction. Some OLED manufacturers tend to use over-saturation technology to make colors and images more vibrant. This means inaccurate color reproduction and image representation. On the other hand, high-end liquid crystal displays, including QLEDs, generally have better color accuracy, making them suitable for color-critical applications such as photo editing, graphic design, and video editing.

2. Higher peak brightness
Remember that QLED display is technically just a led backlit LCD. Compared with the OLED display, due to the LED backlight function, the high-range LED backlight LCD (such as the top-level in-plane switching panel or Apple's liquid retina) will be brighter. When viewing under direct light or outdoor sunlight, the LCD screen has better visibility than OLED.
The addition of quantum dots makes the LCD brighter. Nanocrystalline materials have better optical properties than large crystals in traditional liquid crystal displays. Specifically, using nanocrystals or more specifically, quantum dots can increase the visible light spectrum by 30%, making them brighter than traditional LCDs.
QLED display basically surpasses OLED display and liquid crystal display in brightness level. It can make the colors of the visible spectrum brighter without losing saturation. This is why QLED and other quantum dot displays have become the standard for ultra-high definition displays.

3. Improve contrast
Oled is still unmatched when it comes to greater contrast because of their ability to display deep natural blacks. Please note that the black of OLED displays is not artificially produced, unlike LCDs, because they are essentially products that lack light.
However, QLED displays can still display better contrast than traditional LCDs. Because they are based on photoluminescence quantum dot technology, QLEDs can produce deep blacks because they themselves control the light emitted by a single quantum dot. The result is that its contrast ratio is very close to that of an OLED display.
The use of LED backlight causes light bleeding, so that when qled cannot match oled, the dark black is completely. However, improvements in production, such as the use of anti-reflective layers, have improved the performance of QLED displays.

4. Thinner and lighter panel
The application of quantum dot technology can also produce large, thin and flexible liquid crystal displays, which will once again compete with plastic OLEDs (including flexible OLEDs). Samsung has produced and sold QLED TVs with 65-inch panels, eye-catching thin and ultra-thin bezels. In addition, the company also produces and sells curved QLED TVs with similar appearances.
In other words, the application of quantum dot technology on LCD makes qled thinner and lighter without sacrificing screen size. However, it must be emphasized that OLED technology still has advantages in producing thinner, lighter, and more flexible displays. OLED displays are inherently thinner and lighter than qled.

5. Long lifespan
Compared with OLED display, another advantage of QLED display is longer life. Please note that organic materials of specific colors in OLED panels have different degradation rates. Blue substances degrade faster than red and green substances. Over time, due to the accelerated degradation of the blue material, the OLED panel will experience significant aging.
The susceptibility to water damage also shortens the life of the OLED display. Exposure to water can cause permanent and irreversible damage to the exposed organic materials, resulting in dead pixels or failure of the entire panel.
On the other hand, since QLED displays are still based on LCD technology, their lifespan is longer than that of OLED displays. It is worth noting that specific liquid crystal technologies such as twisted nematic liquid crystal and in-plane switching liquid crystal are more durable than OLED.

6. Energy efficiency
QLEDs can save 20% of electricity compared to traditional LCDs. In addition, remember that quantum dots can increase the visible light spectrum by 30%, so it is brighter than the larger crystals used in traditional LCDs, while power consumption is reduced by 30% to 50%.
Accurate color production also makes QLED display energy-efficient. Combining and balancing different colors in traditional LCD displays wastes energy. However, keep in mind that quantum dot displays can only produce the necessary colors for a given image in a given amount of time.
