Mini LED Matters on CES 2023

Mini LED technology is widely used in monitors, TVs and laptops. At this year's CES we can see some of the latest technology using mini LED technology. Let's take a look at some of the new devices at CES 2023.

Lenovo ThinkVision P27pz-30 and P32pz-30

While major brands are feverishly releasing new products and concepts ahead of the 2023 International CES, PC maker Lenovo is unveiling plenty of hardware. These include two 4K (3840 x 2160) mini-LED IPS displays - the ThinkVision P27pz-30 (27-inch) and P32pz-30 (31.5-inch) - with 1 ,152 dimming zones for dynamic local dimming, similar to the current ThinkVision Creator Extreme mini-LED series.
Both have a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels, 1,200 nits peak brightness, 10-bit colour support, DisplayHDR1000 compliance, and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. Other specs include 98% coverage of the DCI-P3, 99% Adobe RGB and 80% of the BT2020 colour gamuts.
Connectivity options on the Lenovo ThinkVision P32pz-30 and ThinkVision P27pz-30 include two HDMI 2.1 ports, one USB 4.0 Type-C port, two DP 1.4 ports (in and out), one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, four USB Type-A ports to connect peripherals. A KVM switch is also included, allowing users to control multiple devices with one set of input peripherals. One can also charge power-hungry devices such as laptops via the included USB-C port.Lenovo ThinkVision P27pz-30 and P32pz-30

Samsung Odyssey Neo G9

The Odyssey Neo G9 increases from 49 inches to 57 inches, offering 7,680 x 2,160 pixels and 140 PPI pixel density. For reference, the new Odyssey Neo G9 offers the same pixel volume as two 4K displays placed side-by-side. It's worth noting that only AMD Radeon RX 7000 series GPUs support DisplayPort 2.1; competing NVIDIA GPUs such as the GeForce RTX 4090 are still stuck on DisplayPort 1.4a. As a result, 8K and 240 Hz gaming will be exclusive to AMD for now.
In addition, the new Odyssey Neo G9 features Quantum Mini LED backlighting on its 1000R curved panel with a peak brightness of up to 1000 nits. Samsung added that the display is also VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certified, with details provided by VESA on its website. Although Samsung has not confirmed the price of the new Odyssey Neo G9, the price of the current model or 55-inch Odyssey Ark suggests that it is very expensive.

CES 2023 brings us a host of exciting new technologies, including a range of mini-LED gaming laptops. The use of mini-LED in laptops is still a bit of a novelty, but the technology certainly has its advantages, including excellent screen brightness and sharp, deep contrast.Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 with mini LED

Razer Blade 16 and 18

Razer has launched two larger laptops this time, the Razer Blade 16 and the Razer Blade 18, each with the Intel Core i9-13950HX up to the Nvidia RTX 4090 Mobile Edition. The Razer Blade 16 offers a dual-screen mode display. This means you can switch between native resolution and refresh rate depending on what you're doing. MSI Titan GT77 HX

MSI is taking laptop displays to a new level at CES 2023, and it could leave the industry in the lurch for a while. Ahead of CES, MSI announced the updated Titan GT77 HX, which comes with the first mini-LED 4K 144Hz display in a laptop and boasts some crazy specs.

As if the 144Hz 4K mini-LED laptop display wasn't enough, the screen has also received VESA's DisplayHDR 1,000 certification. This means it can reach a peak brightness of 1,000 nits. MSI also says it has a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1, which is on par with screens like the Alienware 34 QD-OLED and laptops.MSI Titan GT77 HX with mini LED
