Should I buy the RTX 4090?
For most players, the answer is NO. You will have to not only spend $1600 for a graphics card, but also $600 to buy a 4K 144HZ monitor or even another $3000 to replace the PC. RTX 4090 overkills most games even in 4K.
If you have already had great experience with RTX 3090, it’s not necessary to update to the RTX 4090. If you‘re still using GeForce 10 Series and 20 Series and there’s enough budget, this new generation will worth every penny. The hyper-realistic and hyper-fast ray tracing effect on RTX 4090 will bring you unprecedented and immersive gaming experience.
Nvidia's GeForce RTX 4090 is a performance beast. Coupled with the company's new and improved resolution boosting technology, DLSS, gaming has never seen such speed. We now have a proper GPU that can fully realize the dream of playing ray-traced games with maximum graphics in 4K. But unfortunately, Nvidia is in the same position as it was when it released its first ray tracing graphics card: cool technology, but not enough games using it. This will change over time, but for now only a very small number of users will benefit from it.
Is the Nvidia GeForce RTX4090 better than the 3090?
Absolutely, yes. With ray tracing activated, the RTX 4090 delivers much better results than the RTX 3090 Ti. At every resolution, Nvidia's new card achieves a significant lead. The RTX 4090 will most likely provide an even greater performance lead than the RTX 3090.
Again, you can see the RTX 4090 has a huge performance advantage over the RTX 3090 Ti below. There is a huge difference of 185fps at 4K resolution. This result is only greater when comparing the RTX 3090.
The RTX 4090 also supports the new DLSS 3 software, thanks to its AI intelligence, which further improves frame rates.
Overall on Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 is the most powerful graphics card to date, delivering outstanding performance for 4K gaming with ray tracing and heavy content creation. It's too much for most gamers, especially with the high price and power consumption, but it's still the first choice for anyone who craves the ultimate in power.
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 was the first graphics card to be introduced as part of the next generation RTX 4000 and is being touted as the most powerful consumer graphics card on the market - both now and for the foreseeable future.
But calling the RTX 4090 a "consumer graphics card" is problematic at best. It starts at $1,599/£1,679, is larger than an Xbox Series S console, and depending on your current build, could double the power consumption of your PC.
Many will argue that this is a Titan card in all but name, with pro-level performance that is perfect for heavy content creation and overkill for most gamers. However, Nvidia has stuck with the GeForce brand.
How does Cyberpunk 2077 work on RTX 4090?
Cyberpunk is one of the most difficult games to run today, especially if you have ray tracing set to its maximum setting. The RTX 4090 is considered one of the most powerful graphics cards on the market and I wanted to see how it would perform.
It's worth noting that the RTX 4090 only achieves 44fps performance in 4K at the highest preset graphics settings. That's not a bad score, though, as it beats the RTX 3090 Ti by 18fps - it just underscores the demands of open-world sci-fi gaming.
The RTX 4090 also has a huge lead at lower resolutions. It seems the new 3rd generation RT core is helping to improve ray tracing performance, and if you like to play cyberpunk in all its glory, the RTX 4090 would make a very tempting choice.
How does Horizon Zero Dawn work on the RTX 4090?
Horizon Zero Dawn is a modern open world PC game with a relatively heavy GPU. Interestingly, the Nvidia RTX 4090 doesn't see the huge gains of the Nvidia RTX 3090 Ti at Full HD and Quad HD resolutions - the latter only sees an 11fps boost.
But when the resolution is increased to 4K, it's a different story, with the RTX 4090 leading the way at an impressive 46fps. Of course, you could argue that the RTX 3090 Ti is already capable of playing Horizon Zero Dawn in 4K at high frame rates, so buying the RTX 4090 for this game alone might be overkill.
